How to accurately install the engine belt and pulley

Some engines use a flat fan belt. When installing it on the pulley, check the fit of the belt and pulley. The flat belt should be well matched with the pulley, and the service life of the belt will never be long. V-belts are used on some models, and correct them immediately if any.

Phenomenon: When the engine is running, there is a lot of noise, such as rustling, squeaking, rattling, etc. When the engine is stopped, you can move the belt intermediate pulley manually to check whether there is clearance. If the clearance is large, replace the belt intermediate pulley.

Drive without immediate replacement. Sometimes, the swing of the intermediate pulley is small, causing accelerated wear of the belt. Sometimes, the intermediate pulley gets stuck and the belt is polished. Sometimes, the pulley itself falls off, causing the belt to get out of the groove. The engine generator, water pump, power steering pump, air conditioning pump and other components that need engine power lose their power source, causing the vehicle to break down and never drive stably.

When the car engine runs 60,000 to 90,000 kilometers, we should check the wear of the belt. In addition, we should also check the working condition of the engine belt intermediate pulley. If it is necessary to replace it, replace the engine belt intermediate pulley even if the belt wear is not slight.

Daily inspection of belt

The inspection mainly includes two aspects: belt tension and belt wear.

First check the tension of the belt. At this time, you can press the belt under the two pulleys with your thumb. According to the pressure of about 10kg, if the reduction of the belt is about 10mm, the belt tension is also considered appropriate. If the reduction is so small, it is also considered that the tension of the belt is insufficient. If the belt basically never has a reduction, it is also considered that the belt tension is so small. It is very difficult for the belt to slip when tension is lacking. When the tension is too large, it is very difficult to damage the bearings of various auxiliary machines. As a result, the relevant adjusting nuts or bolts should be loosened to adjust the tension of the belt to the best state.

In addition, pay attention to the wear of the belt. The old belt is slightly worn, which sharply reduces the contact area between the belt and the pulley. At this time, if you press the belt twice, the belt will sink deeply into the groove of the pulley. There is also an aging problem with the rubber of the belt. If the rubber of the belt is slightly aged, it must be replaced with a new belt immediately.
